Why Barbara?

Philanthropy and giving back to the community are qualities Barbara embraces. As she tests her endurance and dedication in some of the most challenging races on the course, Barbara ensures her race day is one for the greater good of the community. She supports causes that she is passionate about, often times, under some very grueling conditions.

On November 16th 2019, Barbara completed a 13.8 mile half marathon while dribbling a basketball for the entire distance in the "Dribble Drive against Cancer" that finished at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Barbara raised $1,000 in benefit of cancer research and did this in only 24 hours. It was a slam dunk!

On June 9th 2019, Barbara completed the infamous "Escape from Alcatraz" Triathlon by swimming in the ice cold waters of the San Francisco Bay, climbing steep hills on a bike & reaching the summit of the treacherous Sand Ladder from Baker Beach. She also raised $1,000 in benefit of the Colon Cancer Coalition in memory of a dear friend.

On October 1st 2016, Barbara completed her first 140.6 mile, full Ironman triathlon in Cambridge, Maryland and this raised $3,230 in benefit of the Colon Cancer Coalition.

On May 31st 2009, Barbara completed her first 26.2 mile full marathon in San Diego, California, raising $5,000 in benefit of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with Team in Training in memory of her grandmother that she lost too soon.
